Prof TAM Kar Yan, MH, JP, has been appointed Vice-President for Administration and Business (VPAB), effective 1 July 2024. Prof. Tam joined the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) in 1992, where he is currently a Chair Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management. Prior to being VPAB, he was Dean of the Business School from 2016 to 2024, Associate Provost and Dean of Students from 2011-2016 at HKUST. Professor Tam is a board member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and was the Past President of the Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS).  He also plays an active role in public services. Currently, he serves on the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation of the Hong Kong Government.
