Professor Eddy Liew, FRS, OBE, is the Gardiner Chair and Head of the Department of Immunology at Glasgow University, and the founding Director of the Glasgow Biomedical Research Centre. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1995, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Science in 1999, and Fellow of the Royal Society in 2012.

Prof Liew was awarded the Sheikh Hamdan Prize for Medical Research Excellence in 2002 and served as President of the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS, 2003-2006) and Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Immunology (2006-2011). He chaired the Biomedicine Research Panel, Hong Kong, and was a member of the UK MRC Infection and Immunity Board, and President of the European Congress of Immunology 2012. He also serves on international panels of reviewer at numerous universities, globally. He is an honorary/visiting Professor of 10 universities.
