James Henry Lau Jr. GBS, JP, FCPA (Aust.), is currently the Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Ping An OneConnect Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and OneConnect Financial Technology (Hong Kong) Co. Ltd. Mr Lau was the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury from July 2017 until his retirement in April 2020. Prior to that, Mr Lau was the Under Secretary from January 2014. Mr Lau previously served in the Government as an Administrative Officer from 1979 until April 1993 when he left as Administrative Officer Staff Grade C and joined the newly formed Hong Kong Monetary Authority as Division Head in charge of monetary policy and subsequently as Executive Director in charge of external affairs, monetary policy, payment systems and market development. He retired in end-2012 with his last appointment being the CEO of The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited, wholly owned by the Exchange Fund of the Government.
